Off the Rails
Abandoned railways lines (2012-2013)
The town in which I grew up is surrounded by Langhe, Monferrato and Roero, a very attractive area whose fascinating hills and vineyard's architecture are Unesco World Heritage Site candidate.
With its historical and touristic value, the safeguard of this landscape would benefit both the local communities both the wider economy, nevertheless over the years the stakeholders haven't turned out successful in merging their interests in a sustainable development shared project.
As a symbol of the difficult dialogue between man and environment, the regional railroad lines dismission, which took place in these area from 2010 to 2012, has not only deprived the local population of an important public service, partially replaced by wheel traffic, but it also raises questions about land use.
This project is an attempt to investigate this scenery, in which nature silently fights against disused rail infrastructures to gain its lost space.- RobertaCorregia-4072
